How many joints would it take to numb me enough to forget the past, because I’m smoking enough to make sure I will still have the stuff in me for a week.

“You think we will ever be normal?” I ask.

“Fuck no, but I wouldn’t want to be normal anyway. Normal people are boring,” Nitro is the first to answer me.

I came down after my shower and told my brothers everything. Told them how the officer beat me, and I had nowhere to run. It took me back to when the Gatekeepers had us. Nyx was the first to say we all have triggers which take us back to that time, and they hit mine.

“After everything we’ve been through, I still wouldn’t want to change anything. I have four brothers who I would die for.” Nyx lifts his beer bottle to us.

“I’d die for you three, too,” I reply, looking at the three of them.

Our lives were taken from us, our hearts, our souls, our bones, were broken, sliced by them. They fed us to the evil which lingers on the earth, made us their toys, but it made us into the men we are today.

No matter how dark we go, or how broken we are, we will always be there for each other. Until the end.

Tic has been watching me, small glances here and there, and I keep telling him I’m good now, but the man won’t listen.

“Wesley found anything yet?” I ask, I’m in the mood to kill someone, fucking anyone right now.

“He’s been busy sorting all this shit out, but he’s back on it now.” Nyx informs me, and Nitro hands me another beer. “You going to see Esha?” I was waiting for one of them to ask me, I knew it was coming and wanted to see how long it took them, because I’ve not asked him what Esha told him when he went to see him.

“How did she look?” I ask, taking another drag of my joint.

“She has a black eye, and a cut lip, won’t tell me who did it-”

“Because we know who did it, and she’s protecting her family,” I cut him off.

I know who did it, and when the time's right I will make them pay for touching her. I know I have to sit back for a bit until the dust settles around me.

“I also got her medical history, she suffers from vestibular migraines, and if she has a bad one it knocks her out for a while.” Nyx throws the papers on my lap, but I put them to the side, and Nitro picks them up to read them.

“Fuck, she’s had so many needles in her, and they still can’t give her anything for them.” I rip the papers from Nitro’s hands, lifting them up so I can read them while my head rests on the couch.

She’s taking a lot of tablets to help her live with it, there were some days she would message saying she was going to bed, because she wasn’t feeling well, now I know why.
